TotalDocConverter can convert between various document formats. As input, it allows DOC, DOCX, DOCM, RTF, RVF and TXT. In turn, the supported target formats are PDF, DOCX, XLS, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HTML, XHTML, RTF, DOC and TXT. Besides, the application allows combining various source documents into one.

Its interface is very nice, and in many respects, it resembles that of Windows File Explorer, so you can browse the folder tree to pick the items to convert. Luckily, not only can you select specific files but also folders with their subfolders as well. What’s more, you can use advanced filters, based on name, date and size, to include only the files that meet given criteria. When converting to PDF specifically, the tool supports encrypting, compressing, and adding signatures. Moreover, it accurately preserves the original document layout.

All in all, TotalDocConverter has the advantage of allowing batch document conversion. It’s also very convenient in terms of automating repetitive tasks, as it can create bat files you can run from the command line. Unfortunately, some format combinations are not allowed, for instance, converting a webpage into PDF. Besides, you may need installing Microsoft Office conversion pack for operations involving some document types.
